about

Raised in Altadena and painting for as long as he can remember, BRUCE TAYLOR has built a life around the act of looking—at water, weather, faces, and the strange little turns the mind can take when you stare long enough. Years of travel throughout Central America expanded his visual language and deepened his love of saturated color and dramatic light.

He now lives in Oceanside, California, where the Pacific remains a daily subject and a constant collaborator. Working almost exclusively in large-format acrylic on canvas, he paints beaches and waves with energy and clarity, then lets the work slip—at times—into the surreal. From seascapes to portraits, his paintings aim for something felt as much as seen.
